Glyphosate Found in Matzo and Matzo Meal
Tell Manischewitz and Streit’s To Go Organic

BACKGROUND
We don’t give up. Following lab testing by a supporter that detected glyphosate in both Manischewitz Matzo Ball Mix and Streit’s Egg Matzos for Passover in 2025, we launched a petition to Manischewitz, asking the company to change its wheat sourcing and eliminate glyphosate from its products. We focused on Manischewitz because its New Jersey headquarters are within easy reach of Connecticut for petition delivery. We’ve made several attempts to hand deliver the Manischewitz petition to the company. The company has refused to accept our request for a meeting and ignored our followups.
Early in this effort, we also uncovered a critical gap: Kosher certification standards were established long before synthetic pesticides existed—so “kosher” does not necessarily mean a product is free from modern chemical contaminants.
No food, whether it’s eaten during holidays or year round, should contain Poison!
And glyphosate is clearly a dangerous poison. A groundbreaking and first of its kind long-term, international, peer-reviewed study published in June 2025 in the journal Environmental Health, found increased incidences of many types of benign and malignant tumors in all of the three study groups, which were given different levels of glyphosate (all currently considered safe by regulatory agencies) when compared to controls. These tumors were indicators of leukemia, skin, liver, thyroid, nervous system, ovarian, mammary gland, adrenal gland, kidney, urinary bladder, bone, endocrine pancreatic, uterine and spleen cancers. Increased incidences occurred in both sexes. 40% of leukemia deaths in the treated groups occurred in early life, indicating an increased risk to children. Increased early deaths were also observed for other solid tumors.
Further, in December 2025, the journal Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology retracted an influential 2000 study that deemed glyphosate safe, citing serious ethical concerns and hidden involvement from Monsanto. The retraction highlights undisclosed corporate “ghostwriting” in a key paper that has been used by the EPA to support the safety of Roundup for decades.
Glyphosate is manufactured by the same company that made the poisonous cyanide-based pesticide chemicals used for incomprehensible mass murders in the gas chambers during WWII. You may have heard of that company… Bayer-Monsanto. We can’t allow Bayer to continue poisoning people.
Using warm and fuzzy words on their packaging like “Family Owned,” “Classic Style,” and “Kosher for Passover and Year ‘Round” could mislead people into thinking the products are wholesome and safe.
Urge these companies to stop using conventionally grown wheat in their matzo. Glyphosate and other poisonous pesticides don’t belong on anyone’s table. Tell these companies to go organic and stop supporting the very chemical companies that have operated with impunity in the past and continue to harm people.

It has come to my attention that your company is selling products that contain residue of toxic glyphosate herbicide. The patent on Roundup, the original glyphosate-based herbicide, is owned by Monsanto. That company was bought by Bayer, the German chemical giant responsible for providing the poisonous cyanide-based pesticide chemicals used for incomprehensible mass murders in the gas chambers during WWII.
No food, whether it’s eaten during holidays or year round, should contain Poison! And glyphosate is clearly a dangerous poison.
Glyphosate is well known for being harmful to humans, even at ultra-low levels in the parts-per-billion. Increased early deaths were also observed for other solid tumours. Glyphosate has also been linked to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, liver and kidney damage, premature birth, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure, depression, and a long list of other health problems.
I urge your company to stop sourcing wheat that comes from fields sprayed with glyphosate or any other synthetic pesticide. I find it offensive that the same company that made chemicals to kill incomprehensible numbers of innocent people benefits financially from your purchase of the wheat used to make your products.
Please change your practices so that only organically grown wheat is used to make your family of products.
Thank you.
